Helping you learn to do things confidently and then do them the way that works best for your family is one of my specialties. I can help your family in several important areas, such as emotional support to process your birth experience, reassuring you that what you are experiencing is normal (even when it doesn’t feel like it!). Helping you step into your new power as a parent is the goal of every doula.
I can also help you build confidence with first outings for your baby (ie: a coffee shop, a park, grocery shopping) by providing an extra set of hands, attend wellness appointments to watch over baby (ie: 6 week checkup), or watch over your baby while you have some much-needed playtime with older children.
Learning your new baby's cues can take some time, especially when you're sleep-deprived, recovering from childbirth, and possibly learning to nurse as well. As your doula, I can help with teaching these cues, so your confidence in your parenting abilities grows quickly.
Bathing, contact naps (to help you get longer stretches of sleep), preparing bottles, cleaning and assembling pump parts are also popular options that many parents enjoy.
Childbirth is a very special moment in every family’s life, but postpartum is forever. So many people plan for caring only for a new baby but overlook caring for themselves or their partner.
The drop in hormones after giving birth is the largest hormonal change most people will ever experience, and it happens very suddenly. The goal is for you to be educated and confident in your abilities in your new role.
Picking up coffee, grocery online order pickup, prescription pickup, mail-order returns, and so many everyday tasks that require you to leave the house can be overwhelming to do with a newborn in tow. I can help run errands for you on the way to a shift or while baby is napping.
While in your home, I can help with anything from washing bottles and pump parts, sterilizing items, helping with the dishes, basic meal prep, vacuuming, restocking baby supplies, laundry, and much more.
Knowledge is power, and up-to-date information is crucial to have when parenting a newborn, recovering from childbirth, and body feeding. I am a huge proponent of educating yourself as much as possible in advance, and understand that not everyone has the time, the energy, or the resources to do this alone.
I have hands-on experience (either directly or with clients) with tongue ties, reflux, sensory processing disorder, body feeding, oversupply, and neurodivergence.
You’re also encouraged to ask me all your most pressing (and most embarrassing) questions.
One of the hardest things for many people is learning to ask for help, knowing when they truly need it, and accepting it. Though it may feel like a weakness, it is one of the most powerful things you can do as a new parent!
Discussing your feelings and concerns with someone who has been in your shoes before and can reassure you when things are normal and expected (and when they may not be) is invaluable.
If needed, I will gladly work with you to help find an empathetic, qualified behavioral health professional who can address and support your overall wellbeing.
